I had the good fortune to spend about ten years living in places like Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. I learned a lot about country music during that time, being introduced to a lot of artists I may not have listened to otherwise: Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Vince Gill, to name just a few. Got to play quite a bit of it too. 

This song is basically a result of that experience, as well as growing up  watching a lot of cowboy TV shows and western movies.
